HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Once again I've been slack and not updated my blog - sorry. Got back from Singapore and Malaysia on New Years Day and its been pretty full on ever since.
I won't bore you with holiday stuff (yet), just what has been happening over the past couple of weeks.
On the last day of holidays I went to Hiroshima for the day. There was snow from my house all the way to the shopping malls and atomic dome! It was bloody cold! And considering the temp in Malaysia had been 36, I was feeling it. Anyway, had a pretty chilled (no pun intended) day, just shopping, having a huge lunch of Western food, and sightseeing, then caught the Shinkansen (bullet train) back to Hagi. The shink is great - the fastest train goes at 300km/hr. The only sucky thing is your ears keep popping.
Back at school I have been to opening ceremonies, which is just standing in a freezing cold gym listening to the principal make a speech, had official photos taken for the senior students' year book, and taken part in a school festival where we had a couple of big fires, the students had ceremonial burning of their calligraphy, and we ate mochi (don't ask, it was bad) that we cooked over the fires. I got home last night and absolutely stank of smoke - it was great!
Well, the weekend is finally here, so I'm doing a huge clean, then relaxing after a great first week back at work.
Thankfully, no snow!:)
